Interior Decor Gift Ideas

If you attending a housewarming party, need a present for an upcoming bridal shower or wedding reception, or want to congratulate a friend or family member on a new home, you can't go wrong with a interior decor gift. If you know the recipient's personal home decor style, it will be easy to choose the ideal piece for his or her home. Even if you don't, you can still easily choose a tasteful item that will complement their home.

When picking the ideal interior decor present, consider the recipient's favorite colors, hobbies and passions, such as photography or sailing. If you're crafty, you can also make the decorative piece yourself to give it even more of a personal stamp.

Here are some household decor items to consider when choosing a thoughtful gift:

1. Picture Frames

Everyone has pictures or pieces of artwork that they love and want to display in their home, so you can't go wrong with a picture frame gift. You can either go for a classic gold or silver metal frame, or get creative by enhancing the piece with craft items.

As one idea, buy a plain wood frame and glue small decorative pieces, such as seashells or colorful buttons, around it. Choose pieces that reflect the recipient's interests, and fill the frame with a special photo you and him or her together.

You can also have a frame professionally customized online or in a shop. Have a wood frame engraved with a baby's name and birthday, or have a metal frame etched with a bride and groom's names, wedding date and a love-related quote.

2. Throw Blankets

Warm and cozy throw blankets are perfect winter holiday or any other occasion gifts. You can knit a blanket yourself, or pick one with the recipient's interests, such as a favorite football team, in mind.

If you know your friend's home decor color scheme, choose one that will complement it. For instance, if he or she has a beach-inspired living room, go with a sea foam green or turquoise blue blanket. If it's in your gift-giving budget, include a matching throw pillow or two as well.

3. Vases

Another thoughtful home decor gift is an eye-catching vase. The recipient can use it to enhance a fireplace mantel, a bedroom night stand, or a dining room table, among other things.

Start by choosing a vase that fits with a loved one's decor style, such as a milk glass version for a shabby chic or vintage-inspired look, or a streamlined shiny silver one for a modern touch. Fill the vase with either real or faux flowers prior to presenting it to complete the gift.
